The Reason the Upgrade Isn't Free
Firstly, let me say that everyone who wrote a bad review because of the non-free upgrade should learn to read. The developer has clearly stated, at the top of the app's description, that you can go to their website to find out why this is an unusual upgrade.
What you're paying for is not, according to the App Store, an upgrade to an app you already own. It's an entirely different app. Where To? was originally developed by Sophiestication and was subsequently sold to FutureTap. Apple never foresaw such a transfer if intellectual property when they designed the App Store, so there was no way to change the developer without publishing a functionally "new" app. The App Store is the culprit, not the developer.
I think the developer is being very fair given the circumstances in selling this app for a reduced price for the time being. So don't take it out on the developer by badly reviewing a useful and well-executed app.
Useless
Useless, this app "found" 2 gas stations in NW Ann Arbor that have been closed for years. Who needs that kind of information?
where to
tried "speedways" found none, while two are located w/in 30 miles. got taxi services instead? then tried american restaurants, found nothing five miles away in town, but locations 40 plus miles away. what value is this. a waste of $.99
