Who dosen't find themselves staring at a menu and wondering whether or not the $60 bottle of wine is really better than the $30 bottle from the other chateau with a different name? This guide attempts to answer that for you, so long as you don't mind looking like a geek while you try to navigate through 15,000 wines in front of your date. Where the app shines better is the quick-pic list which provides recommendations of best wines to buy at Trader-Joe's, Safeways, etc. While the database is huge, there is little user-generated content, and the rating system is very simplistic - You'll find a five-star bottle of two-buck chuck listed next to a five-star Riscal Rioja from 1926. There are no written reviews yet, so it's not possible to judge whether the reviewers know what they're talking about. So many drawbacks, but still plenty of potential for this little app.
