About Daniel Ottensamer

Daniel Ottensamer is an Austrian clarinetist. He attended the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, studying with Johann Hindler and Martin Fröst. In 2009, he won the Carl Nielsen International Clarinet Competition, and became the principal clarinetist for both the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna State Opera Orchestra. With his father, Ernst Ottensamer, and his brother, Andreas Ottensamer, he formed a clarinet trio, the Clarinotts, in 2005. As a soloist, he has performed with the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, the Munich Radio Orchestra, and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, among others. He recorded Mein Wien, My Vienna for Sony Classics.
