About Graveyard Rodeo

One of the early purveyors of the now well-established NOLA brand of sludgecore (i.e., hardcore meets metal and doom), Graveyard Rodeo recorded a pair of underachieving, and mostly forgotten, early-'90s albums for the Century Media label. In fact, the early-days membership of future Corrosion of Conformity guitarist and singer Pepper Keenan may be the band's only lasting (if tenuous) link with popular music history -- although he had already departed by the time of their 1993 debut, Sowing Discord in the Haunts of Man. Often described as a midtempo variety on the style made successful by Crowbar, this album was recorded by the lineup of bassist Tommy Scanlan, guitarists Gary Gennaro and Brad Christiana, vocalist Perry McAuley, and drummer Wayne Fabre -- the last three being replaced by Jay Gracianette, Mark Brignac, and Gary Hebert, respectively, come Graveyard Rodeo's second and final album, On the Verge, the following year. Drummer Wayne Fabre would find his way into the ranks of revived death-gore outfit Necrophagia years later, but none of the other Graveyard Rodeo alums have been heard from since. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
