About Ned Miller

A reluctant performer who struggled with stage fright, Ned Miller moved to California in the mid-'50s, joining the Fabor label as a songwriter. Early in 1957, his songs "Dark Moon" and "A Fallen Star" became country and pop chart hits for Bonnie Guitar and Jimmy C. Newman, respectively. Later that year he wrote his most famous song, the enduring "From a Jack to a King." It was recorded by Jim Lowe but fared poorly on the charts. In 1962 Fabor issued Miller's version, and despite his reluctance to tour, it became a hit. Miller eventually broke the U.S. Top 20 with the songs "Invisible Tears" (1964) and "Do What You Do Well" (1965). ~ Rovi Staff
