About Günter Müller

A gifted percussionist and eager pioneer of computer-generated sounds, Günter Müller is a mainstay of the international avant-garde. He has played with many innovative improvising groups, and since the early '80s has experimented with electronic devices, often creating sound without a musical instrument. By the early '00s, he was using mp3 players to loop his playing, sometimes extending through microtonal adventures towards drones. Among the many artists Müller has worked are Jim O’Rourke, Lee Ranaldo, Keith Rowe, Otomo Yoshihide and John Zorn. He was a founder member of the free improvisation group, Nachtluft, and Poire Z, an electronic quartet.
