Pablo Cueco

About Pablo Cueco

Pablo Cueco has adapted the Iranian wooden drum, zarb or tombak, to a diverse range of musical genres. A member of the unique clarinet, cello and zarb group, the Denis Colin Trio, Cueco has worked with the Denis Hake Trio and the David Rueff Quintet and has directed his own projects, the Pablo Cueco Quintet and Duet Cueco/Villarroei. He collaborated with Indian flute player Haprisad Chaurasia, in the multicultural 1980s group, European Freight. His recent work has included forming and directing a children's choir in Valencia. Cueco's improvisational skills were shaped during years of percussion training with Gaston Sylvestre, Jean-Pierre Drouet and Djamchid Chemirani. ~ Craig Harris
