About Francisco Mora Catlett

Francisco Mora Catlett is a New York-based drummer, percussionist, composer, bandleader, and educator; his sound is rooted in Latin styles, the jazz vanguard, and electronic music, and he's a former member of the Sun Ra Arkestra. While living in Detroit during the 1980s and '90s, he issued the influential vanguard Latin jazz set Mora! and worked with Carl Craig's Innerzone Orchestra on the seminal "Bug in the Bassbin." He also played on Craig's The Detroit Experiment. In 2007, Mora released the long-player Outerzone, featuring Marshall Allen and Craig Taborn. He released AfroHORN MX, followed by Rare Metal and At the Edge of the Spiral. In 2021, Far Out Recordings reissued Mora! and Mora 2; the latter was recorded shortly after his debut, but was issued only briefly under a different title. Also in 2021, he debuted his first-ever all-electronic album, Electric Worlds.
