The jaracho tradition of the Gulf Coast region of Mexico is preserved through the playing of Los Pregoneros del Puerto. Although Los Pregoneros disbanded shortly after coming together in the early '60s, the Veracruz-based trio made up for lost time upon reuniting in 1982. Their album of traditional music, Music of Veracruz, released in 1985, was followed by Sones Jarachos five years later. Los Pregoneros del Puerto feature Gonzalo Mata on harp, Jose Gutierrez on the five-stringed jarana, and Valente Reyes on guitar. ~ Craig Harris
