About Jessica Sutta

J Sutta (real name Jessica Lynn Sutta) is an American singer/songwriter and dancer, primarily known for being a member of household dance/pop act the Pussycat Dolls. Born in Miami, Florida, she developed a taste for the arts at an early age when she began to attend dance classes at just three years old. Throughout her early teens, she studied dance at the Miami City Ballet and the New World School of the Arts. This led to Sutta joining the NBA Miami Heat cheer leading squad in 1999, going on to earn a place as captain in 2001. Two years later, she relocated to Los Angeles and began to attend dance auditions, capturing the attention of choreographer Robin Antin, who decided she was an ideal fit for the re-formulation of the Pussycat Dolls pop/dance ensemble. At the time, the group and its management’s focus was to move on from the group's image as a Burlesque dance troupe and into something directly associated with music, resulting in a deal with Interscope Records. Along with Sutta, six other dancers/singers (Nicole Scherzinger, Kaya Jones, Melody Thornton, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, and Kimberley Wyatt) were recruited for the Pussycat Dolls. Their debut album, PCD was released in late 2005 and quickly went on to sell over three million copies in the U.S. alone, with the record’s lead single "Don’t Cha" becoming a ubiquitous monster hit. Sutta and the girls experienced further success, earning a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance, as well as a highly successful international tour in promotion of the album. In subsequent years, Sutta appeared on the tracks "Make It Last," by house producer Dave Audé and "White Lies," by DJ Paul van Dyk. Both tracks dominated the high end of the Hot Dance Club play chart. The Pussycat Dolls returned in 2008 with their sophomore effort, Doll Domination. The album’s deluxe edition featured a solo song by Sutta, entitled "If I Was a Man." In early 2010, she announced her departure from the Dolls, stating a desire to explore her creativity with a possible solo career. This came to fruition later that year, with the release of her first solo single "I Wanna Be Bad." The song met a positive response and shortly afterward, she debuted a further two tracks -- "Good Boy" and "Jack in the Box." The material didn’t stop there, with Sutta collaborating with more artists in 2011, namely with DJ Erick Morillo on "Pin Up Girl" and Cedric Gervais' "Where Ever U Are." Shortly thereafter, she announced her signing to Disney Music Group’s Hollywood Records, with which she released the single, "Show Me." The song was another success on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart, becoming her first number one single as a solo performer. Throughout the following years, she released a number of other singles and appeared once again on one of Dave Audé's tracks, "Gonna Get U." In early 2016, she put out the single "Forever," which became her most widely known song due to its widespread radio airplay and Sutta being named Number One Independent Artist for four weeks on the Top 40 Radio Chart. This was followed by the release of her first mixtape, Feline Resurrection, which was composed of song ideas intended for her full-length album. That release, titled I Say Yes, was released in early 2017 and was led by the single "Forever." ~ Rob Wacey
