Monster In the Machine

About Monster In the Machine

Los Angeles-based alternative rock outfit Monster in the Machine were formed as a creative vehicle for vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and keyboardist Shannon Crawford. His previous group, Cellophane, signed to Virgin in 1997, but Crawford, disillusioned with the industry, left the group to focus on his painting. Inspiration reasserted itself musically in 2006 and Crawford recruited drummer Josh Freese, violin player Imani Coppola, ex-Cellophane/Puddle of Mudd bassist Douglas Ardito, and longtime friend and Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer for his newest project, the atmospheric Monster in the Machine. The resulting Butterfly Pinned arrived in 2007 on Shaffer's Emotional Syphon label. ~ James Christopher Monger
