About From Both Ends Of The Earth
From Both Ends of the Earth is a Toronto-based band who plays klezmer music melded with jazz and R&B influences. Pianist Marilyn Lerner, saxophonist/clarinetist Sasha Boychouk, and bassist/banjo player Daniel Koulack founded the group and were later joined by vocalist David Wall (of Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band) and percussionist Rick Shadrach Lazar (of Montuno Police). The band draws from traditional Ukrainian and Yiddish music to create original songs that incorporate modern musical forms while retaining a strong klezmer sound. From Both Ends of the Earth's debut album came out in July 1999, and the following summer the group embarked on their first tour, hitting folk festivals across Canada. ~ Joslyn Layne
