About Shontelle

Barbadian R&B singer-songwriter Shontelle made her mark in the late 2000s and early 2010s with hits like “T-Shirt” and “Impossible.” • Shontelle got her start by cowriting Bajan soca star Aliso Hinds’ 2005 hit “Roll It Gal.” In 2007, Shontelle guested alongside Rihanna on the J-Status cover version, “Roll It.” • In 2008, Shontelle released her debut album, Shontelligence, featuring the single “T-Shirt,” a Top 40 hit in the US and a Top 10 smash in the UK. • “Impossible,” from her 2010 sophomore album, No Gravity, peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. It remains her biggest US hit. • Shontelle cowrote Rihanna’s 2010 single “Man Down,” a Top 10 R&B hit that went double platinum. She and Rihanna had met as army cadets in their native Barbados. • In 2021, Shontelle released a string of singles—“Tomorrow,” “House Party,” and “Let You Go”—and began using NFTs (non-fungible tokens) to connect directly with fans.
