Supermayer, the portmanteau of Kompakt recording artists Akel Schaufler (Superpitcher) and Michael Mayer, is a supergroup-styled collaboration for the post-millennial techno set. Pushing the limits of both artists’ flirtatiously poppy, emo- (not Eno) ambient, Supermayer’s sound covers surprisingly light and bouncy territory within the typically moribund genre. The duo released their debut, SAVE THE WORLD, in 2007, wowing critics with their whimsical counter-blow against minimal techno’s high seriousness. Successful appearances at the Coachella Festival and an international tour followed in 2009.
