About Shorthanded

American punk band Shorthanded was formed in Oregon by Andy Wiseman (bass/vocals), Chad Davis (drums), and Steve Davis (guitar) in 1995. Steve left soon afterward and the band rearranged, settling into its long-standing core lineup of Wiseman (now guitars and vocals), Chad Davis, and Jason Zeh (bass). Crafting energetic, full-throttle punk rock, they released their debut self-titled 7" in 1997, the Simple full-length in 1998, and the Slices of Life EP in 1999 through Boot to Head Records. Tooth & Nail caught up with the hype and inked a deal with Shorthanded in 1999, issuing Forever Yours in 2001. That set was produced by Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton of Descendents/ALL and featured previously released tracks from their Boot to Head days along with newer songs. Not much was heard from the band in the following decades as members pursued other ventures. In the early 2020s, Wiseman, Davis, and Zeh reconnected and began releasing music with Stevenson along for the ride. "Loco Lucky" arrived in 2022 with "Arabica" and "Waiting Up at Home" landing in 2023. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
