Sterling Roswell

About Sterling Roswell

Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Sterling Roswell came to prominence as the drummer for Spacemen 3. Roswell stayed with them until 1989, when he co-founded the Darkside, who released three albums and disbanded in 1993. Throughout the following decade, Roswell was a bit of a journeyman. He settled in Rome, where he worked as a television host, actor, and DJ. Barney Stoppard recruited him to compose music for a sci-fi film that never materialized, but Roswell continued to experiment in his studio, recording atmospheric, psyched-out music that became 2004's The Psychedelic Ubik. He then worked as a producer and engineer on records by Sky Saxon and Nick Lowe. A pair of singles led to his second solo LP, 2014's Call of the Cosmos. ~ Timothy Monger
