About B.crowder

b. Robert Henry Crowder, 1912, USA. During the early 30s Crowder played tenor saxophone with various territory bands based mostly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He then moved to Chicago where he performed in big bands led by Horace Henderson, Earl Hines and others, and in small groups with Coleman Hawkins. Although continuing to play, his career decision to remain in Chicago and not tour kept him from the sight and awareness of jazz audiences. A secure and reliable player, Crowder’s work as a section man is beyond reproach.
