Jerry Jaye

About Jerry Jaye

Best remembered for his 1976 country radio hit "Honky Tonk Women Love Redneck Men," singer/guitarist Jerry Jaye was born Gerald Hatley in Manila, AK, on October 19, 1937; after a handful of independent recordings, he surfaced on Hi Records in 1967 with the rockabilly-influenced My Girl Josephine, reaching the Top 30 with the title track (a cover of the Fats Domino hit) before spending nearly a decade out of the spotlight. Resurfacing on Columbia in 1975, Jaye notched a minor hit with a cover of the Tommy Edwards chart-topper "It's All in the Game," returning to Hi the following year with Honky Tonk Women Love Redneck Men before again receding from view. ~ Jason Ankeny
