Formed in Tokyo, Japan, in 1999, techno-metal duo Noism have specialized in brutal tech-core sounds, even after taking up residence on opposite sides of the planet. Yoshiro Hamazaki (guitars) and Tomoyuki Akiyama (programming) started out with more traditional elements of a band structure, incorporating vocals and basslines into their drum machine-based work, but over time those traditions and structures faded, allowing the pair to branch out into uncharted territory. Live shows and a demo (Brutality and Complexity) appeared in 2000, and over the next five years Noism released a handful of tracks online. For much of the group's career, however, Noism existed in two places at once: in 2002, Tomoyuki moved to the States, but the band carried on, able to record and develop work through technological channels.
