Formed in the mid-‘90s, Indonesian alt-rockers Padi broke into the local scene with their 1999 debut, Lain Dunia. But thanks to the absorbing, sophisticated songwriting of lead guitarist/chief songwriter Piyu and the captivating, brooding vocals of frontman Fadly, Padi left an indelible mark on the Indonesian mainstream and racked up sales in the millions—beginning with 2001 LP Sesuatu Yang Tertunda. After a lengthy hiatus throughout most of the 2010s, the Surabaya five-piece made a grand return with 2019’s stellar Indera Keenam, their sixth full-length album.
