About Fritter

Singer/songwriter Elizabeth Steen made her musical debut in the mid-'90s as a session musician. This Boston gal is a skilled pianist and accordion player and, eventually, Steen joined Tanya Donelly's band in 1997 as well as Natalie Merchant for several of her albums -- Ophelia, The House Carpenter's Daughter, and Motherland. She's also contributed to albums by Billy Bragg, Catie Curtis, and Count Zero. In late 2002, Steen tagged herself Fritter and went solo. She and fellow musicians such as Erik Della Penna, Dean Sharenow, and Will Ragano spent late 2002 writing and recording Fritter's first set of songs. The springlike gem Mockery appeared in summer 2003. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
