About Barrett Baber

By the time he joined Blake Shelton's team on the ninth season of the television singing competition The Voice, Marion, Arkansas' Barrett Baber already had three albums under his belt. He had also survived a plane crash. The son of a preacher, Baber was a passenger on American Airlines flight 1420, which crashed near Little Rock, Arkansas, in June 1999. Baber helped some fellow passengers escape before getting himself out, which changed his perspective on life forever. After graduating from Ouachita Baptist University, he honed his soulful country chops in Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee, releasing his debut, Fratbar Superstar, in 2004. Eight years later, he followed up with a sophomore release, 2012's Colt Square Sessions, and 2013's Battlefield Us. In 2015, he released his first EP, Falling Again, and was a contestant on The Voice, making it all the way to the finals, where he placed third after Emily Ann Roberts and winner Jordan Smith. ~ Neil Z.
