Pansy Division

About Pansy Division

Jon Ginoli formed the gay punk act Pansy Division in San Francisco during the early 1990s. After recruiting bassist Chris Freeman (and employing a rotating cast of drummers before settling on Luis Illades), Ginoli and Pansy Division set out to play a raucous mix of melodic pop-punk and classic garage-rock. Starting with 1993’s UNDRESSED, they released nearly an album a year throughout the decade, frankly (and generally humorously) addressing their gay lifestyle while touring with more mainstream punk acts like Green Day. In 2009, they released their eighth full-length,THAT'S SO GAY, and were the subjects of a documentary entitled PANSY DIVISION: LIFE IN A GAY ROCK BAND.
