Ostensibly a solo project of Scooter Ward, frontman for Jacksonville post-grunge wailers Cold, Killer & the Star takes a more orchestral, more melodic approach to alternative rock than Ward’s original band. Ward’s vocals, often playfully tweaked by auto-tune, gently soar over intricate compositions which bask in power piano pop with Gothic hooks. Ward recruited members of Evanescence and Idiot Star to round out the touring and studio bands, a pedigree befitting the act's hearty, majestic lilt.
