About Girls Can't Catch

Following in the footsteps of Girls Aloud, the Saturdays, and Bananarama, the three-piece Girls Can't Catch were the fourth girl band to be signed to Polydor imprint Fascination. The group, which formed in 2009, consisted of Phoebe Brown, who'd been the lead singer of 2007 X Factor finalists Hope; Jess Strickley, who previously won the Motorokstar competition to record tracks with Jay-Z producer F.R.E.A.K; and Daizy Agnew, who recorded the original version of Jade Ewan's Eurovision entry "It's My Time." Girls Can't Catch, whose name was originally offered to the Saturdays, released their first single, "Keep Your Head Up" (number 26), after opening for Girls Aloud on their 32-date arena tour. After recording their debut album with the likes of Pixie Lott, Shaznay Lewis, and Karen Poole, their second single, "Echo," reached number 19. However, in July 2010 Girls Can't Catch disbanded the day after they were dropped by their label. ~ Jon O'Brien
