About Psychobuildings

Brooklyn's Psychobuildings play an abstract yet danceable blend of funk, new wave, dream pop, and other influences. Led by charismatic frontman Peter LaBier, the group released several singles and EPs during the early 2010s, going on hiatus for several years before returning with Blackout in 2020. Noted visual artist Peter LaBier formed Psychobuildings in 2010, with Juan Pieczanski of chillwave band Small Black playing synthesizers and percussion, and Silk Flowers' Peter Schuette (aka Peter's House Music) contributing additional synthesizers. The group released the singles "Portrait" and "Birds of Prey" that year, and contributed the song "Terror Management" to Kitsuné Maison Compilation 10: The Fireworks Issue. Psychobuildings' self-titled debut EP was released by Brooklyn indie label All Hands Electric in 2011, and Hearts appeared on Wondersound the following year. The group also collaborated with MNDR on the single "Always on the Mind." An album titled Love World appeared in 2014, but the group went silent for several years. The duo of LaBier and Pieczanski returned with the singles "Other World" and "The Back Door" in 2019. Several more tracks led up to the release of Blackout in 2020. ~ Paul Simpson
