About Txarrena

Formed in Pamplona in the late '80s, Txarrena is a side project of Enrique Villarreal, the frontman/bassist of Spanish hard rock pioneers Barricada. Released in 1992, their self-titled debut album was essentially a solo project for the maverick also known as "El Drogas," but after 19 years of focusing on his more renowned band, he returned in 2011 with a new supergroup lineup featuring guitarist Txus Maravi (La Lengua de Trapo), bassist Eugenio Aristu (Flako), and drummer Brigi Duque (Koma). Produced by Haritz Wrighy, their second album, Azulejo Frío, was issued in the same year. ~ Jon O'Brien
