Bright Moments is the solo project of Kelly Pratt, in-demand brass and wind player for bands such as Coldplay, LCD Soundsystem, and Beirut. Pratt had previously stepped out as leader of Team B, but life on the road restricted recording to whatever he could accomplish on a laptop in hotels between shows. Wanting to create at his own pace and without the other limitations of a tour schedule, he formed Bright Moments and began recording by himself in his Brooklyn apartment, later recruiting his musician friends from Beirut, Akoya Afrobeat, and Spoon to flesh out the sound and assist with production. The result was Natives, a sprawling record that synthesized the diversity of his musical résumé and arrived in 2012. ~ Chrysta Cherrie
