The SoCal trip-hop outfit Sunset Room formed in the late '90s when founding members James Flores (drums) and Tim Rumbaugh (bass) decided to bring their love for Portishead and Morcheeba to the forefront. Experimenting with elements of jazz, electronica, and acoustics, Sunset Room was made a trio when vocalist Catie Moore was added to the fold in 1998. The next few years were spent playing gigs in and around Orange County and composing material for a debut album. Almost an Angel, Sunset Room's self-produced first record, was released in December 2001, while the single "Empty Rooms" became a mainstay over various Internet radio stations. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
