About Forgotten Suns

In 1991, Linx and Ricardo Falcão met each other in the same high school class, shared some ideas, and decided to form a band. Some years later, Miguel Valadares met Falcão in a music school and he accepted an invitation to join the band. In 1994, Johnny -- who had never played any concrete instrument until the invitation -- entered the band and in two weeks he was playing songs from Marillion and Pink Floyd. Nuno Sénica joined in for the drum spot and this was the first solid quintet and the birth of Forgotten Suns as a whole (many drummers were tested and many failed). In 1998, a demo CD was recorded and mastered at STS studios with the money from winning first place in a contest at UAL university. Five themes were recorded under really bad conditions. Next year, they signed their first record deal and recorded Fiction Edge I (Ascent). After recording the album, Nuno Sénica decided to quit the project and was replaced by Nelsun Caetano; Miguel Valadares also decided to leave the band to pursue other goals. The years passed and the band appeared on Portuguese TV night shows, news summaries, and on radio featured on play lists all around the world. Also, several music magazines mentioned the band as one of the best surprises of the Portuguese prog rock scene. ~ Cesar Lanzarini
