Growing up in Bessemer, AL, the young Reginald Jones struggled with the toy guitar his parents had given him for Christmas. At the age of 12 he prayed, "Lord if you teach me how to play this guitar I will play it for you the rest of my life to draw people to you." It worked and soon Jones was playing along with Walter Hawkins' recordings and practicing every chance he got. He loved gospel music, but his father's love of jazz grew on him as he got older. By the time he was an adult, jazz and gospel were equals in Jones' music, and songwriting had become the guitarist's passion. All these elements blended together on his debut, My Rainbow - A Promise by God, which appeared in 2005. ~ David Jeffries
