Medicine Hat

About Medicine Hat

Formed by like-minded musicians from different continents, Medicine Hat is a band that offers a rock-slanted view of country music. Their sometimes raw take on old songs allows the material to benefit greatly from the injection of fire and enthusiasm. The band also plays some original material that travels over similar ground but sees the landscape through very different eyes to the more traditional country music acts. The band’s founder was singer and guitarist Mark Jackson (b. 1967, Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand), and other members have included Stephen Loveday (guitar), Mark Wright (guitar), UK-born James Whiteman (keyboards, Hammond organ), Lol Dalzeil (bass), and Garry Bowler (drums). Medicine Hat had a late 90s single success with ‘C’mon Here’ and gained a good following through tours and their early 00s albums. Loveday has also composed music that has been used on films and on television.
