Mourning [A] BLKstar

The Cleveland-based Mourning [A] BLKstar are a collective spanning generations, gender, and genre. Their recordings and performances are a synthesis of soul, blues, gospel, jazz, hip-hop, and avant-electronics, mixing live instrumentation with programmed sounds, and feature a trio of vocalists who swap lead and background roles. Since forming in 2016, they've issued numerous recordings varying in size and scope, including The Garner Poems (2018), Reckoning (2019), and The Cycle (2020). U.K. magazine The Wire placed The Cycle at number three in their Releases of the Year feature.
