About Renee Goust

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was four, my mom made me audition for a choir and the choir director told her I had no talent for singing and suggested piano lessons instead. My first keyboard was drawn onto a piece of cardboard because my parents couldn't afford a real one. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Ampersan, Flor de Biznaga Apparat, Ellen Allien, Orchestra of Bubbles Elliott Smith, Elliott Smith Elliott Smith is one of my favorite songwriters of all time and this was the first album of his I ever listened to. I love the musicality in Orchestra of Bubbles. It is very relaxing to me. Ampersan's Flor de Biznaga brings me memories from college. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Querida Muerte (No Nos Maten)” I wrote this song denouncing the gender violence we live as women in Mexico and Latin America in general. It has resonated with the feminist community and it warms my heart that is has felt like a safe haven for many women. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Some of my most memorable shows have been playing the Lincoln Center in NYC in 2018 and playing the Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico in 2023. They have been some of my happiest moments on stage. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would love to: - Play my own Tiny Desk Concert - Tour Europe - Record more albums self-sufficiently as an engineer
