Scout Gillett

Scout Gillett grew up in Missouri and later became a fixture on the Brooklyn indie/underground scene, and her work reflects both of the communities she's called home. Gillett's music has an undertow of roots influences, incorporating country, blues, and folk textures, while her melodies are filtered through the atmospherics and noisy accents of indie rock, and these two sides of her musical personality suit the deeply personal tone of her lyrics. After years of accompanying other artists, Gillett was prompted by personal tragedy to focus on writing her own songs, a process that grew into her debut album, 2022's striking No Roof No Floor.
