The Doctor is back in da house!
Doc Neeson. Legend. My memories of Doc and the Angels are tempered from seeing them play live 14 times at various venues around Australia. I have always been a huge fan, I always will be a huge fan but will all us die hard fans love this album? The answer if you truly are a fan will be a resounding yes! Full of dark menace, you are waiting for the raw power of these classic to be unleashed, but instead they come at you in subdued tones. With unfamilar instruments playing the music we all know and love so dearly and with Doc singing them with that unmistakable voice but with the power that previously assaulted you held in check, you listen and are deviously overtaken with a new love and respect for these Australian classics! Well done Doc and welcome back, we all missed you!
Doc's Back
Great album. If you truly loved the Angels then I think you'll love this. It's different, yes, but a great listen. The tunes are really well arranged. Then there's Doc's voice...though he's singing softly, he is still so powerful. Doc's still got it...keep it up Doc, really enjoyed hearing you again...
2009 and Beyond
Something that becomes a favorite so quickly can only be five stars. I have been an Angels fan for 30 years, the 'thump the air, hard electric rock type'. Acoustic - yeah right! But listen to this and you will hear the thumping bass and rhythm in a new way. A new song here I haven't heard before is Big Star. Don't dismiss this one lightly - it certainly wouldn't be out of place on the iconic Face to Face or No Exit. Would love to hear the hard electric rock I mentioned before on this one. It gives hope that with the infamous Brewster/Neeson/Brewster song writing power house back in play, maybe we can be treated to a another iconic album 30 years later. Song writing 'hall of fame' induction was well deserved, come on guys show ‘em what you got!
