Worth It!

After hearing how good they were at Falls Festival and then getting the iTunes free download and loving 'Kids On Overload' I had to buy this album. It is one of those rare albums where every song is good that you try and fill your CD collection with. It is a different type of rock and his voice is unique and refreshing. Stand out tracks include 'Teenage Werewolf', the brilliant 'Hurricane', Seizures and F___ing the Exhibits. While there are standouts on this album, when you hear the other songs it does not have you reaching for the skip button, every song really is good, some are just that bit better. Well worth a listen and you won't get sick of it either!

New Addicted Romantic?

To say Faker lead singer Nathan Hudson sounds like The Cure's Robert Smith is as much as an understatement as saying George W Bush isn't one of the most popular world leaders today. In fact, much of the album suggests that the five lads from Sydney have a collection of CDs heavy on the new romantic sounds of the 1980s. That said, the album isn't simply a rehash of new romantic melodies and ideas, but a step up and onwards with the genre meeting classic Aussie rock head-on. Probably closer to Thirsty Merc than the Killers, this is an good, well-crafted first album with the single Hurricane probably the stand out track. Deserves 3 1/2 stars rather than the 4 awarded it...

Listen Up

This first album from Faker shows that the boys have got talent and a great sound. At first listen I was reminded of an Ausie version of the Killers. Manic yet melodic - I reccommend.

On the surface, it appeared as if the Australian band Faker had a rather difficult time releasing a record, seeing as the band formed in 1996 and didn't issue a debut album until 2005. The Sydney-based group remained busy during that nine-year period, however, weathering a storm of lineup changes (although the band's focal point, vocalist Nathan Hudson, remained firmly in place) and releasing two EPs in 2001, both of which gained a fair amount of airplay on the radio network Triple J. Faker's aforementioned...
