It's Different
Just finished listening to the album, at first i didnt like it, but it grows on you. They havnt really recaptured the sound our brilliance of "is this it" but it is a change. Most of the songs have a techno feel to them which is quite cool. If you are a strokes fan buy this album, you wont be dissapointed, you may feel let down at first but keep listening to it and you will eventually enjoy it. The key tracks include "Taken for a Fool" , "Machu Piccu" and "Life is simple in the Moonlight"
Angles..yeah good!!
The most anticipated release(for me anyway) of 2011is finally here. I wasn't expecting another 'Is This It' and doubt if we'll ever see the likes of it again. Angles is a fun album that kinda grows and grows with each rotation. Slightly experimental perhaps but you can't knock The Strokes for that. Personally i'd have liked a bit more of the kickarse guitar sounds that we've come to know and love and maybe for Jules to have extended his voice a bit more. None of these tracks hit me in the way that say Reptilia,Last Nite or Heart In A Cage did back then. Standouts for me are Gratisfaction, Taken For A Fool, Machu Piccu and Life Is Simple In The Moonlight. I hope this doesn't sound too critical because i really like it and recommend to buy it. The Strokes are one of my top 3 all- time fave bands and this album doesn't change that..enjoy!
Angles
Angles shows that The Strokes are still very much a factor in 2011, and rightly so. Disjointed, hyperactive, experimental, whatever. Angles is the album to beat this year.
