Full of love and longing
At times this album gives me chills - the best kind of chills. The sort one gets when something is so beautiful, it’s moving. It lives entirely up to its title, a fantastic collection of “bitter-sweet, broken-hearted love songs from the 30s, 40s and 50s”. Kate Ceberano’s soulful voice, though instantly recognisable, is quite different from what may have been heard mainstream but is perfectly mixed with striking solos from Mark Isham on the trumpet. Highly recommended for those who love jazz, those in love, those who have a heart and those whose heart has been broken.
What a voice
WOW...Kate's voice in this album is breathtaking! Its the pefect backdrop for romance, reflection and pure indulgence. The tone that come's through in every song is a beautiful deepness of mixed emotions and life experience that channels not only Kate as an artist, but also us as lovers of true and wonderful music. One word....Heavenly.
Brilliant
Kate just gets better and better! A fabulous life performer who's recorded performances have that feeling in them that she puts into her live shows. She is a regular on my radio shows - probably the best female recording star in Australia at the moment. Don't miss out - buy it!!
