A new avenue for the Groove

Having only seen the new formation of Groove Armada 3 days ago live in Melbourne, the sounds are still fresh in my mind. And fresh is it. The Groove has taken a dive into history with this new album and the new lead singer. This woman has apart from a great on-stage personality also an amazing voice that on certain notes will blow you away. This album is going back a few generations in style. It reminds me of some of the best 80's electro music done in the style of 2010. Deep synth sounds, wicket beats and solid lyrics are the main keys of Black light. Songs that will stand out from the first moment you listen to this album are "I won't kneel" , "Paper romance", History" and "Go". I won't kneel is such a good example of the true Groove Armada sounds. Even the re-mixes on the single will amaze you. As a DJ I see huge potential in this album with lots of area's for re-mixing and floor fillers. Although I think it will be hard to top the original Groove from the times of "Easy", "Superstyling" and "Light sonic". I do rate this album and it's new sound as a fantastic new era for a top Band such as Groove Armada. This album will grow on you immensely.

Meh....

I'm a huge GA fan but this one has not quite cut the mustard. Soundboy Rock rocked but this album has turned out very 80's with a lot of old sounds. GA have usually led the way but I think this is a step backwards. It's OK but can't really find any tracks pumping my nads like they have done in the past. I saw them live also (Jan 09) and the crowd response reflects what I have written above, there were no "hairs standing on end" like there was in the past. The new lead singer is great. A brilliant vocalist and a real showgirl on stage but I think the boys need to re-think their music and go back to their roots rather than digging up 80s sounds and melodies.

AWESOME!!!!!

What great tunes, you guys are @ the fore front of new sounds in music, you take risks every time & boy doesn't it pay off that's why you are "The Groove Armada" we're grown to love, well done gang>>>
