Brilliant
Wow! I can't believe no one has reviewed this album. I have been a fan of Wendy since the early Emigre and Absent Friends efforts but have not followed her more recent work very closely. Cafe Naturale blew me away! Great interpretations of some classic songs - Wendy's sublime voice overlaid on some beautiful musical arrangements. A very classy and enjoyable album. All the tracks are good but All I Need, Short Note (a great Matt Moffat tune), and Protection stood out for me. Well worth a listen - Wendy is a true vocal talent who deserves more recognition.
Smooth & soulful
I agree with the review by ARGreg, Wendy is under-appreciated. I listen to Diana Krall, Sade, Norah Jones, Liz Wright and other fantastic female singers, and Wendy is up there with them all. I especially love Cafe Naturale for it's cool, understated soulfulness. Come 6pm, we're cooking dinner, glass of wine in hand, this is a regular on the playlist. I especially like her cover of One.
