Album Review

By the time John Farnham released Chain Reaction the audience that had so faithfully supported Whispering Jack had moved on, and this album was aimed more at the adult contemporary market. As a result this album is bland, colorless, and serves no purpose than to rehash the successful formula of Whispering Jack and Age of Reason. Nonetheless, some of these songs are catchy pop tunes. "That's Freedom" is this album's attempt at a rewrite of "You're the Voice" and almost manages to recapture the spirit of that song, while "In Days to Come" is a great song that became a deserving Australian hit. Not everything is good, however. The title track ("Chain Reaction") is a mediocre tune at the best, and the piano and string-laden "Burn for You" plumbs saccharine depths that even Michael Bolton would have thought twice about.

First Class Farnham

Once again Itunes Store review has not penned their name to these disgusting remarks. Chain Reaction was the number one album for 1990. This album was another number 1 album by John. Farnham co wrote 9 tracks on this masterpiece, with the title track Chain Reaction written by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics especially for Farnham. With another sellout tour that followed unmatched by any local or international artist. Considering Itunes does not provide the entire album, ignore Itunes comments and trust this reviewer and buy the full 12 songs that is John Farnham "Chain Reaction".

ITUNES REVIEW

I think whoever has written the itunes reviews for all the farnham albums should be disciplined. It is incredibly unfair on an artist who was so successful and has a strong voice to indicate in the negative on both these points. Can these be urgently re-written please and removed.

Class Act

It seems to be the 'cool' thing these days for 'critics' to slam an artist because they have a great voice and like to sing heartfelt songs. God help the music industry. And for the itunes critic - I challenge you to find a vocalist as good as Farnham or for that matter, Bolton. This is a great album that I remember buying on cassette as a kid. The highlight for me is 'The First Step'.
