Album Review

This is a melodically stunning record in which instrumentation strikes the disc's first chord. "Rebirthing" is a grand opening statement. Guitarist Ben Kasica cooks a delectable platter of tasty lead fills that are accompanied by orchestral tones all over the disc. The same is true of the title track, "Comatose." Here the band uses a proven recipe — staccato guitars, piano, and orchestration — to bring the tune home. "The Last Night" feels like classic Skillet. The tune boasts a feel-good chorus that shouts "radio-friendly." The same can be said for "Yours to Hold," as John Cooper's familiar vocals and warm vibe emanate from the tune. The same sensation strikes the track "The Older I Get." Here, the tune is once again radio-ready with an infectious, singable chorus. Comatose is a record that sustains on many levels. Cooper is really on target. Quiet moments like "Say Goodbye" are effectively woven with heavier moments like "Those Nights." When guitar progressions meet piano nuances, special things happen with this band.

Christian Rock at its all time best!

By far one of the best soft-rock albums ever and certainly Skillet's best, the album itself including tracks such as their hit single "Rebirthing" and latest hit "Whispers In the Dark". Too many 5 star songs on it to list, in fact in my eyes every single song deserves 5 stars if not more! All of the songs on this album have a unique touch of class to them, for example in "Rebirthing" firmiliar vocals from lead singer "John Cooper" are strongly supported by vocals by other band members and this gives the song a very unique sound indeed. This is also found on many of the other songs in which this album has to offer. This album is certainly worth listening to, if not buying that is and if your interested though not fully convinced or your just an all time fan of this type of music then why not try one of Skillet's other albums such as; "Collide" or "Alien Youth", believe me when I say this, any album buy Skillet is an album worth buying, thats my philosophy at least.

Must-have Album

Out of 11 tracks, there are 9 I wouldn't press NEXT on. Skillet have done a wonderful job on this album. The vocals are amazing, & the mixture of classical instruments with powerful, guitar-driven rock is an incredible combination. The harmonies are beautiful, the lyrics are meaningful, each track is unique, energetic & heartfelt. My close friends and I have opposite worlds of taste when it comes to music, but this album is one we can actually agree on! Comatose is definitely my most treasured album. Skillet ... rock on!!

Strong, catchy tunes

With strong, tough sounding tunes and down to earth lyrics, Skillet definatly rates as one of my favorite bands. This album has some songs that rock pretty hard whilst keeping some quiet songs like: Yours to Hold, The Older I Get, and Those Nights. Skillet has really made their own style by weaving in heavy guitars and drums along with strings. I LOVE this album, Definatly give these guys a go.
