Beautiful

Along with the similar sounding Sarah Blasko and Lisa Mitchell, Julia Stone's voice add an aural tapestry to the Australian music scene that lifts, holds, and pleases with their honesty and beautiful lyrics. I love this album. Buy their music. Make them happy. Make yourself happy.

Masterful Evolution

Three years since A&J's incredible debut album, Down The Way successfuly demonstrates their songwriting maturation while still holding dear to the whimsical brilliance of their earlier songs. The album plays through with each song with it's own unique emotional raport and multiple play throughs only serve to expose more layers through their songs which have developed akin to that of a good wine.

My personal favourites are Big Jet Plane which is actually a song from Angus' band; Lady of The Sunshine. It is a change of pace in the overall scheme of things yet complements the album very well.

Yellow Brick Road is deeply layered and polished with some similarities to Pete Murray.

Draw Your Swords starts off harking similarities to their earlier songs, but builds into a crescendo something which we havent heard from the duo before. It is tremendously well done and beautiful and excellently displays their developing maturity and exploration into new sounds.

'And The Boys' captures Julia's voice in such a hauntingly naked and beautiful way, it will also be one of my favourites for a long time to come.

Down The Way is a fantastic album which old and new fans will love. While it has a few more layers compared to earlier works, the evolution is tempered just the right amount so that it isnt too drastic a change to put dedicated fans off.
Angus & Julia Stone are maturing as songwriters and they will be one of the bands I will follow for many years to see where they end up. 5 Star album without hesitation.

sick of lispy voises

along with (very) similar-sounding Lisa Mitchell, Sarah Blasko, Angus and Julia Stone drag the Australian Music Scene down to a pile of mushy, "i'm too bohemian to sing properly" scheiße.
