Great Album

Tony Bennett is one smooth man, this album is classic Tony Bennett and the duets are fantastic. To the person below, Tony Bennett cannot be a 'name robber', he was singing those songs before you or any of those artists you mentioned were born. There are many songs in the world with the same name, listen to the album before writing a review.

An Album of Classic Tunes by the Man who put the "S" into Smooth

I think our young reviewer (above) has got his/her wires crossed. This is an album of classics. Smile (not the Lily Allen version), The Boulevard fo Broken Dreams etc are the classic original tunes. Beutiful listening & a journey into culture.

Who plucked the strings...

...to have Delta Goodrem on this album? These tribute albums are less about honoring great music of the past and music legends like Bennett, Sinatra, and Charles and more about showcasing untouchable pop artists from 2 decades ago who have their fingers in every pie from politics to cloned sheep. The other purpose seems to tag on the odd obscure talent less stable mate to push their exposure. There is no doubt that some in this album should be there but let’s give this generation of music makers a go. I'm tired of the same old cameo players doing the same old lazy formula. It shows. This is the reason the album falls short. Only half of these guys can carry these types of songs. The other half can't sing out of the only style they know how. The cast seems to be picked because of who they are. It sounds thin. I didn't want to buy the whole album, but it's Tony.

Tony Bennett's career has enjoyed three distinct phases, each of them very successful. In the early '50s, he scored a series of major hits that made him one of the most popular recording artists of the time. In the early '60s, he mounted a comeback as more of an adult-album seller. And from the mid-'80s on, he achieved renewed popularity with generations of listeners who hadn't been born when he first appeared. This, however, defines Bennett more in terms of marketing than music. He himself probably...
