Take a Trip to Felt Mountain
When music followers think of Goldfrapp they probably think of glam electronic beats and the siren like voice of Alison Goldfrapp herself. But it used to be oh so more 'avant garde' back in the beginning. You can't really call yourself a Goldfrapp fan if you don't have Felt Mountain in your music collection a throw back to Alison and Will Gregory's trip-hop days, this album really is brilliant mixing influences from contempories like 'Portishead' and Alison and Will's love for soundtrack music. The tracks 'Lovely Head', 'Pilots', and 'Paper Bag' have a distinguishable feel of a 1960's movie soundtrack but filled out with a narrative and Alison's amazing vocal. Goldfrapp experiment with some almost alien like sounds adding to the 'otherworldliness' of the music. Utopia is perhaps the strongest track of them all, with a great composition and also lyrically a commentary on the topic of 'genetic engineering'. VERY VERY highly recommended. 9 songs were never such great value!
the best out off all off them
i bought this album by mistake many years ago, thinking it was a tricky collabration, only too find it was far better than he can do. six years later i probably listen to certain songs on a weekly basis. on the bus coming down after a big night "utopia" is the best song to listen too followed by "Human" and "paper bag". I wasn't disapointed with the follow up albums but they really are not off the same callibre as felt mountain. only exeption is the DFA remix off "loverly too see you"
The Best album by Goldfrapp
Hands down this is THE best album Goldfrapp has made... it is simply breathtaking each and every song! This is one of the best albums I own!
