Album Review

Hurt may be one of the few rock bands that can appeal equally to fans of Creed and Tool. Don't believe this assessment? The proof is all over their 2009 comeback release, Goodbye to the Machine. After being dropped by Capitol Records in 2008 (despite building a sizeable fan base and scoring some moderate radio airplay on rock stations), it appeared as though the band may just pack it in. But much to the delight of their audience, J. Loren Wince and company have soldiered on — signing on with the independent Amusement record label. And regarding the earlier comparison, all you have to do is listen to the first two tracks, as "Got Jealous" contains Scott Stapp-like vocal-isms, while "Pandora" features Tool-like noodling as far as the music goes. From there on, Hurt alternates between the former approach ("War") and the latter ("Fighting Tao"). And as an added treat to entice fans to purchase the CD version, a code is included in the packaging that allows the buyer to download bonus songs not included on the album.

this world aint right.....

just tried to buy world aint right on this album and it seems that you can only get the song when you purchase the album. Im asuming that the record company has done this and not i tunes.

big misstake in my honest opinion, instead of me buy that song and providing some well earned earnings for the band (and the record company) they wont get any money from me at all because i only want that song. So instead of getting some earnings from me they will get nothing from me.

Im not going to spend $17.00 on one song.

hopefully the record company will look at this and change there view, because in my view they are only fueling the fire of piracy with this act.

War

do not download this song from this album as it only copies half of the track and the rest is blank.

Hard rockers J. Loren and Evan Johns met after Johns' producer father, Andy, heard Loren on a demo tape and was intrigued by the singer's voice. Upon hearing that Loren was looking for a drummer, Andy Johns arranged for the two young musicians to get in touch, and they quickly found that they played well together. Soon guitarist Paul Spatola and bassist Joshua Ansley joined (though Loren also plays guitar and violin for the band and Johns adds piano) and...
