ok if u haven't liked hey monday for ages already, you probably want to know a couple of things, so i'll keep it simple for you all. 1. try not to compare hey monday to paramore, you'll only be left feeling annoyed because they are awesome in different ways so it's hard to compare. if you are up for a challenge go for it, but remember they are on the same label (i'm pretty sure) and most of the bands on that label sound pop-punkish and similar at times (but awesome might i add, i love alot of the decaydance/fbr bands) 2. they sound exactly the same live as they do on this cd there is barely any editing at all 3. stand out tracks: josey, run don't walk, arizona, obvious 4. if it's any reason to support their music, they are super nice in person trust me :) hope this helps and if u don't like them well thats ok but give them a listen before you judge :)
Great Album
This is a really cool album, and I like most the songs on it. It's a bit like a lot of other stuff, not super original, but I feel they do the girl pop- punk thing better than a lot of others. Worth a buy, but I'm confused as to why it costs only $7 U.S dollars ($10.50 Australian) on American iTunes and a whopping $17 Auz dollars on Australian iTunes.
Really, a great band, fantastic album
Until a month or so ago, i had never even heard of this band. I knew Pete Wentz's label had signed a new group of up and comers, but was yet to hear any of their songs, and didn't even know the name of the band. That changed when Fall Out Boy came for their last tour, and brought said youngens' along with them. Hey Monday, a name, i will never forget, for as long as i have a memory. For a poppy sounding punk band, i couldn't believe how fresh they sound, upbeat melodies, catchy tunes, the mandatory thumping distorted power chords, and absolutely KILLER vocals, from leading lady Cass. After such an incredible live performance, i later rushed to the net to find this here album, and my, what a treat it is. There's not a song i can hate, it all just flows. It's definately a no track skipper, just throw it on and let it play. Even on the few, slower, ballady songs, those clear, sweet, belting vocals will rope you in for the long haul. And this is coming from a bloke, who usually HATES chick singers, bar opera. As many say, i wouldn't even think of comparing them to Paramore, my only other favorite lady lyric band. There ARE only so many sounds in this genre, and many cannot help but sound alike, but they do definately have some major differences and both should be enjoyed for what they are, seperately. A MUST have for your new age pop/punk fans. 4/5 from me, only minus one because some songs sound a LITTLE too similar, most folks will pick that up. They each have their own flare though, and with such a passionate group of talented musicians, keep your eye's peeled for more from these guys (and girl). I'm sure we'll be seeing ALOT more Monday!
