Brilliant stuff

Laura Marling never ceases to amaze me. This exquisite album just further proves her genius. A Lot more instrumental than 'Alas...' but works to an advantage here. She shows an even more mature level of song writing that makes it hard to fathom the fact she's only 20.I highly recommend the purchse! It includes with it illustrated lyrics, the film clip to 'devil's spoke' and more! Yay!

Exquisite is an understatement

I didn't think I could love an album more than 'Alas I Cannot Swim', and although darker, this new release is simply outstanding. Laura Marling's talent is astonishing, and one can only hope that she continues to make music and release albums like this. Its only March but this is already my album of the year.

Alas this aint No Swim

I must admit a disclaimer. Laura's First album was a grower to me. An album where I kept on discovering magic beautiful Lyrical Geniuses of tracks months and months after I bought it.I however fell in love with this master piece. Hence my disclaimer as my first impression to this album is disappointment. As a whole I found the songs to be fairly one dimensional more in the music rather than the Lyrics. Songs like the opener Devils Spoke has beautiful lyrics however musically its a little repetitive. Gone are hooky choruses and magical bridges. At first listen the first few tracks use the same bars throughout the whole song and apart from the mesmerising images protrayed in the lyrics i have not fallen in love with this collection. Standouts are Goodbye England and the Blackberry i do think think i would be more converted if I saw these songs live. But for now I have brought this album and will sit on it for a while and see what happens.

Singer/songwriter Laura Marling was only 16 years old when she emerged on the British indie scene in 2007 thanks to a handful of infectious singles made available on her MySpace profile. Endowed with a husky voice, an acoustic guitar, and a gift for building quirky, hooky folk songs (characteristics that find her compared favorably to artists like Lily Allen, Regina Spektor, and Martha Wainwright), Marling quickly made a name for herself throughout England thanks to a heavy touring schedule and a...
