Compelling
Yet the artist paints himself and his endeavours as ultimately tragic. I say; nay sir!
Hidden Australian Gems...
Damian Cowell (TISM) Henri Grawe (All round virtuoso, soundtrack for Bigger Than Tina) and Douglas Lee Robertson (Ice Cream Hands) have impressed with this debut single. Cowell's moody, grumpy, witty and strangely complelling spoken-word and synth skills work so well with Grawe and Robertson's alluring harmonies and excellent rock sound. This song might be an autobiographical reflection on Cowell's former group at first glance, however it is really another expert deconstruction of the phenomena of popular fame and the shallowness of becoming a celebrity,
Deep.
Despite the cultural disparity between Perth and Melbourne I still understand the existential despair that resonates in this song. Well done.
